Between the day time job and commission pieces I try to wriggle in some of my own stuff.
Loosely based on my concept of the Eatbrains artwork I worked this one up, it went through a few iterations because I wanted to get a bit more motion and emotion in the piece and break away from my stiff art.
This is the pencils scanned in and cleaned up in PS

Personally I've always struggled to draw on tracing paper because it always ends up being dirty due to friction of the hand on the surface.

I use normal mechanical pencils and soft lead like 2B, I draw on tracing paper.

With this tracing paper you can erase as much as you like it does not wear out the paper surface, also because I do my initial layout on the PC and print it out so I use that as a basis and overlay the tracing paper on top of that to make the clean detailed pencil sketch.

Nice. Reminds me of the sort of 50's/60's sort of awesome tattoo's/designs you used to get. Though ass shot is worth is. :D
